  1. Re: SORN when you buy a new bike - be careful!

    ....

I'm not sure if you can do it via the new keeper section...[/quote]

Yes you can, I did, you just have to enter reg doc number printed on the slip from the V5 which the old keeper gives...
  2. Re: SORN when you buy a new bike - be careful!

Nope. I found out yesterday that the Post Office no longer does the form to declare SORN. Apparently the DVLA only do it over the phone or via the internet now.

I'm not sure if you can do it via...

Re: torque settings for brake calipers

Haynes won't do one yet, the model is far to new. As for the owners manual, I presume you mean the booklet they gave you with the bike that has no useful information in it? What you need is the Honda...

    Re: Buying Advice - SV650S

Its been a while since I needed to check a part but I wouldn't exactly say 90%. The 650 and Thou have different frames, engines, looms, CDI, exhaust, and a few other bits which are not...

    Re: SV650 oil leak

So long as you have taken the cover off, removed the old gasket, cleaned it up and not over tightened the bolts when you put it back together then it should last. Like I say the plastic cover is an...

    Re: SV650 oil leak

If its on the right then it is most likely the clutch cover. The engine case cover of the right of the bike is made up of the main metal piece, a plastic clutch cover, and the metal water pump cover....

    Re: SV650 oil leak

Going to need a little more information...

Its slightly more traditional to have a leak on the right (if its the model in your avatar) as the plastic clutch cover can warp against the main right...

    Local Bike Painter

Can anyone recommend a local bike painter please?

    Re: SV 650

The S (faired) and N (unfaired) model frames are identical, and have identical geometry.

With the exception of slightly different gearing (final drive) giving the S a slightly higher topend the...

    Re: SV 650

The SV650 is a very good bike for what you want.

Apart from the usual things to look for as its a 2001 model budget for a new reg/ rec and a battery. Its the weak point of the bike and on a 1st...
  14. Re: SV650 Project need help with welding/fabrication

If you've bought the bits like that then I understand your logic, but I'd bet a spare 1st gen engine is still a lot easier (and cheaper) to do. Not seen your post over there, but that is the best...
  15. Re: SV650 Project need help with welding/fabrication

Forgot about that, this is starting to sound more like a reframe than a engine swap. Some parts might be interchangeable, others won't be, a lot I think will depend on the connectors. For example the...
  16. Re: SV650 Project need help with welding/fabrication

Off the top of my head I can't think what lugs they are, but I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem sticking a Pointy in a Curvy.

There has been anecdotal reports of Curvys using more oil than...
  17. Re: SV650 Project need help with welding/fabrication

So if I have understood correctly, you are retro fitting FI onto a 1st gen SV650? Why?

Oh and you do realize that 1st and 2nd gen SV650 engines are basically identical?

    There are minor...
