Thanks for all the suggestions. The bike's a minter so I don't want to mark it unnecessarily. I'll start it this afternoon and try the heat and WD40 trick. Cheers All.
I started my old BSA yesterday, as there's little else to do at present. All went well until I let a microfibre cloth touch a very hot chrome exhaust. The result is a mess. Looking on the 'net...
You've described an engine service but there's more to a bike than the motor. If a bike service was asked for, a chain adjust is fundamental.
Jet fighter pilots have been using these for years. Not sure there's any point on a bike.
Built to last an Italian summer as per normal I suppose?
I'll get one when Akrapovič do a can for it.
If MZ's count - yes. They should do as they are the cream of bikes. Still have one among the others in the garage.
I want to sell one of my bikes - a modern superbike. Haven't sold one for quite a few years. Anyone out there successfully sold a bike recently? Where did you advertise for the successful sale? So...
Agreed. It sure does make F1 look a trifle boring. I'd recommend any bike fan to visit one of the Southern European rounds of the Season. Jerez is probably the best. The whole city becomes...
They'll get Legal Aid, paid for by us. The smart-ass lawyer will say they're from a troubled background and dysfunctional family, needing 'help not punishment'. They'll get a Community Service...
I wouldn't bother with the DVLA. It could be a can of worms and you'd possibly end up having to retrace the history in the States, as the statements made at import were maybe incorrect. Possibly it...
Thanks for that folks. Plenty to think about. Cheers.
The place I used for MoTs for many years, located between Bath and Bristol, has packed up after the owner retired. He was very fair and knowledgeable, being Old School. He understood my classic bikes...
The 100 miles need to be dry miles. Wet miles don't scrub the surface enough and don't count.
I get email shots from MPS, as do many bikers. They do offers of either pairs or single tyres at very competitive prices. I was going to say 'cheap' but no decent superbike tyre is that. They do free...
I usually use Carsons and turned up to see they are now Wiltshire Tyres. They supplied and fitted a Pirelli to a loose rear wheel from my VFR800, after a serious puncture. I left the wheel and HM The...
Happened on my ETZ 250 a year or two back. I was able to reach down and work the throttle by tugging on the bit of cable remaining, Only a couple of miles from home thankfully. Oh the joy of simple...
And a true gentleman indeed. His achievement will almost certainly never be repeated.
The best answer to this addictive mobile phone use, as that's what it is, would be for every Police Officer to carry a hammer. Any phone found being used by a driver would then be smashed to pieces,...
I was with AA last year. They hiked the price for my 1/2/17 renewal and I found Bennetts the best value this time. Have been with them before. What really pee'd me off was the AA guy cheerily...
Thanks Guys. I've been recommended Ultimate Bike Paint by word of mouth from a very fussy mate. I'll give them a try. Cheers.
My bike slipped as it came off the stand and fell on its side before I could catch it. Result - nasty gravel scratches on the fairing and front mudguard. Nothing is cracked. Any suggestions out there...
Nearly crunched my car near Boulogne with one of the give way to the right junctions. Only HM The Wife's beady eye on my left saw the emerging car first. Then I saw the line in the main road ahead of...
I do my own work, but don't fancy doing the 16k miles valve check and adjust. I need a special tool and a box of shims. A well known Honda Main Dealer has quoted me £560 for the full service and...
