Re: Why can't bikes have a light
Lmao.......I dont pay any attention to the one in hire cars I have let alone one on the bike hehe............but Im sure they'd be helpful for some reason.
Personally I just go up until I cant go up anymore....and when I stop I go down until I cant go down anymore lol....what happens in between is decided on the sound of the engine hehe (if its screaming I go up...if its nearly stalling I go down) but hey I am just an 'old woman' so what the hell do I know ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I dont think Id benefit from a gear light/number thingy somehow hehehe ;D ;D ;D

Or just get an auto......

No worries about being in the wrong gear!!!!!
Re: Why can't bikes have a light
Don't feel the need to have a gear indicator, you instinctly know what gear your in. Cars tend to have engraved on the gear knob, bet you don't look at it went changing.
Tip given to me by instructor. If your not sure what gear your in, then go up through the gear box to top then move back down through the gears until you reach desired gear.
Re: Why can't bikes have a light
I found a gear indicator useful when I was getting used to a new bike, now I mainly use mine to check if I am in neutral.
But I'd rather have a petrol gauge!!!!! I can't remember to set the trip. Bad memory ..... must be because I am an old woman Scotty ;D ;D

Re: Why can't bikes have a light
I've never felt the need for idiot lights or gear indicators, except on the track. As Gerry said, when you're going for it, the last thing you want is to hook the wrong gear. I had a gear indicator fitted to my R1 when I was racing, purely so I didn't cock up in the first corner. The chaos of the first corner, plus loads of highly revving bikes around you, could easily make you forget where you were in the gearbox. Not a problem anywhere else. If it sounds right, you're in the right gear... :)
