Can anyone do HPi checks ?

I am looking at a bike tomorrow to buy , and was wondering if anyone has access to HPI checks for bikes please,

If so , can you do me one, I will buy you a beer when I see you at a meet , hopefully on my new steed ;);)

you can check out the bike yourself online,unfortunately there is a fee(not expensive)..but what price for piece of mind

Theres one i use which you text the number and it pings back the info straight away, pretty reasonable too, textcheck £3 a pop.

Was kinda hoping there was a friendly dealer that frequented the site , who could squeeze me in :D

the text one is cheap , but doesn't do finance though , so you could be taking on someones loan aswell as forking out for a new bike :rolleyes:

They do it as an option, around £5 max so you get the full check for around £9

Yes no probs, I try to make the bikenight on a wednesday where possible, or the official rides are the second sunday each month. Just pm me and we can arrange a meet up point.

You don't carry the can for someone else's finance if you buy their bike, unless you are a motor dealer of some sort.

I used to be.............a car salesman many years ago and worked with finance on motor vehicles so do know what I'm on about here.

If you buy the bike from a private individual as a private individual you will not be expected to pay the sellers finance off.

But the finance company can still seize the vehicle from you if there's outstanding finance as legally they own the vehicle. That's the issue, not making you pay the finance - they just take the bike

Not if you have all the correct paperwork they can't.

If you have bought it in good faith and the seller has signed the receipt stating it's not been a write off, had serious accident or has any financial claim to it you are good to go.

Unless this has changed but I'm sure it hasn't.
