Dull UK weather leads to Vitamin D deficiency

We may be used to the lack of sunshine here in the UK (http://www.theweathernetwork.com/uk/news/articles/uk-weather/met-office-confirms-wet--dull-july-uk-weather/55202/) but government experts are now urging the public to consider taking vitamin D supplements because of our dreary weather.

A draft proposal from Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN), an independent advisory body to the government, made the recommendation after it said the UK weather prevents the British public from receiving adequate amounts of the essential vitamin from sunlight.

Is that a draft proposal from the SACN or a daft one I wonder? ;)

Starting to wonder to be honest, it's ok snatching a quick ride here and there when there's a dry moment but I'm chomping for a proper rideout.

Gah! I bet that loads of you were out enjoying some decent weather at last... Chicky and I are in Wilts and all our bikes are in storage down this way too, but our gear is all packed up at home in the Badlands awaiting our house move :-(

I hope y’all enjoyed yourselves and took it steadily, those who haven’t ridden since last year will be rusty and your brains will still be thinking at car driving speeds. Take your time, there’s no rush nor any need to plant yourselves and your bikes in the scenery.

I went out today and when I got home I had to clean bugs of my visor, BUGS, if that's not proof summers coming what is it :).

Took mine round the block - that was it. Bit of a shakedown after changing the fluids in the front brakes and clutch hydraulic systems - all appears well!

Bring it on! :)

Agreed - manage to use the bike for my commute for the last two days and looking forward to the ride tomorrow - lovely ride from Derry Hill to Swindon Old Town via Avebury. Since doing the work on the brakes the bike is stopping quicker than I'm used too - taking a bit of getting used too!

It's ok round here where you can get a bit of speed but we did a stretch of the M25 car park on Sunday and also hacked across Surrey/Sussex where it seemed everyone was out for a Sunday potter and overtake opportunities were slim. I was soaking when I got to my friends house and straight in a nice cold shower. (followed by a beer of course)
