Hi folks, needs some advice on the best way to get my licence. Im 21. ive been riding a 50cc since 16 and frankly im fed up of the poxy thing. Passed my CBT over 3 years ago so do i need to renew it to go for my big bike licence? Also i've got a full car licence which i passed 3 years ago so do i need to redo my theory? Can anybody please tell me the best way to go about this.
Thanx Chan

Hi Chan, and first off, welcome to the site!

You will have to take your CBT again as it only lasts for two years, and therefore, you are currently breaking the law! ;)

You will indeed have to do the theory test again I'm afraid.

The best way to go would be to approach a local training school and speak to them about doing your DAS (Direct Access Scheme) if you want to ride a bike with more than 33bhp. You will end up doing the CBT again on your first day, and then move on to the 125cc bikes for the next couple of days. After this, you'll be on a 500cc or so sized bike for the remaining days (2 or so I think, but somebody who has passed their test more recent can confirm this) before doing your test on the fifth and final day.

Thankyou- Had no idea where to start. The CBT thing was abit of a shock. Going up to BMF show nxt wknd to stock up on clothing so hopefully i'l be able to show my face at avebury riding a bike instead of being a pillion.

Good luck in finding some kit at the BMF show then. I hear it's best to get there early Saturday morning to get the kit.

Just remember to sort your CBT out soon! ;)

I absolutely Agree with Scott , that is the exact road I went down.
8-)

1) Took CBT , two days on 125
2) Two days on a Kawi ER5
3) Took test following day. And pasted :)

n.b. advise you get your theory in advance, it can be failed! and you will not be able to take you practical test.

Welcome :)
