I need to change the speedo cable on my rt1100, where can I get one and how easy a job is it??

I use Motobins, Motorworks or James Sherlock who are all good independant suppliers and are mail order.

If you don't know the part number they can normally find it for you or use www.realoem.com to find it yourself.

You could also try your local BMW dealer but not the car dealer as they will look at you with a blank face. Let me know if you need a hand. If it's like mine, there is a sensor on the rear drive bevel box and the cable runs off from there.

No problemo. I had a quick look at realoem.com and it seems the cable runs from the speedo to the front wheel so it's different from mine but probably easier to change. Enter in your VIN number on the site and it will show parts for your bike.

Thats OK. Nothing much else to do on my day off since it's raining and I'm still bikeless. Even been thinking of tinkering with the 900 which would mean clearing out the garage to get to it.

I ordered the part from James Sherlock, great service arrived the next day, fitted in about and hour, bit fidly but no problem, thanks agian for all your help and the recommendations.
