Are there any simple ways of making the chain adjustment less of a chore? It's almost like loose, loose. loose...tight. Then there is the issue of making sure your wheel is aligned. Tips would prove useful.

This is an old trick but it worked for me....

Put 2 pieces of wood/metal on the floor under the bike so the wheels are in line (in between the wood!) when you go to tighten up the bolts. This will then keep the wheels stable as you tighten the bolts up!

I know you need paddock stands etc now to change a light bulb but if your carefull you can use the side stand to do the job.

(It always worked for me when I was younger!)

I never use wood cause with it being upto 7ft long its prob be warped so i used 3"x7ft angle iron on bricks eg on each side of wheels prob with that is bars are heavy ,make adjustments from the lower chain run midway and always from the tightest point of the chain.
Once you have done it right first time and tightened everything up take note where the adjustment marks are on the swinging arm.( some marks on bikes are not correct in relation to each side)
if you got a centre stand brill or use a paddock stand
