Any body know if trikes are legally allowed to use bus lanes?? I know bikes can but no idea about trikes!

I think that it only applies to actual 2 wheeled vehicles. A 3 wheeled vehicle by definition, whether its steered by bars or wheel does not come under bikes I believe.Hence the reason why helmets aint compulsory either. A good point though, but don't quote me.Try hogging a bus lane and see what happens!!! :D

I suspect they are not allowed as they are not classed as a PTW (powered two wheelers), will try and find out more.

There's no consistency on use of bus lanes across the country - each local authority decides its own rules - but where they do allow "powered two wheelers", it's consistently defined as motorcycles, scooters and mopeds. Swindon allowed PTWs to use bus lanes in September 2001 (see section 51) (http://ww2.swindon.gov.uk/moderngov/Data/Council/20010927/Minutes/$Minutes.DOC.pdf).

Ant just asked this question to people in MAG who were involved with getting bikes into bus lanes and it’s bad news for you, trikes are not allowed in bus lanes.
