I'm going to change hosts in March and will be needing a new website to go with the change. I have a designer mate who's offered to do it for a box of Maltesers, but I haven't heard from her in ages and time is ticking on.

It won't need to be much different to my current site in content, just a bit tidier and less 'clunky' looking. One thing I WILL need though is a working shop.

Anyone able to help? I'm happy to offer my bike valeting services in return/part payment :)

i'm not a professional web designer but i have built/helped with building a few sites over the past 3 years, the first few i built i used a cms system, however i have recently been doing some work on,
http://68sqn.co.uk
http://www.gameplayservers.com

The second one i have been assisting with and the top one i have built from scratch to it's current state.
I also have a reasonable knowledge in e-commerce carts/etc. so could implement that into the webpage.

So if need be i'd be willing to help http://www.wiltshirebikers.co.uk/yabbfiles/Smilies/thumbsup.gif

I've built a few basic websites - probably full of coding errors to a professional but they do work:
http://www.wwise.org.uk/ is the main one I work on, although I also maintain http://www.saveour6-7buses.org.uk/

My talents lie more towards the design and style though, happy to pitch in a few ideas if you are thinking about making any style changes while you change servers and are drawing a blank :)

My company creates and hosts websites but we wouldn't be as cheap we those with fewer overheads. Happy to provide a quote if you'd like though

I have used Microsoft Office Live. Free hosting, easy to use. www.j-art.info

just a word of warning for the above site posted by ChrisJo, the homepage does have a flashing banner, in case anyone with epilepsy was to look at the site.

Loops, the ones you've done are probably closest to what I need. It doesn't have to be flash (or Java... groan!), just a bit more stylish than it is at the moment and with a working shop. My renewal time is in 40 days or so, so I need to get thinking about it seriously now.

Dabz, please do a quote, I'd be very interested to see what I can get from a dedicated design company. I've no idea what it costs for a 'proper' site, are we talking some hundreds of pounds?

We probably are tbh mate - usually starting at 4 figures and going upwards, but always happy to do a deal, so I'll speak to the design team and see what they can do! Everything we do is to the accepted international standards of coding, as well as security, and accessibility etc

Do we have a jaw hitting the floor smiley? I don't even own four figures, yet alone have it spare for a website :D

I'd still like a quote though for future reference, I'm not planning on being poor for ever ;)

Righty-ho then. I've established I can't afford a top of the range site yet. So.... Loops, your examples are closest to what I'm after, would you be able to help me out?

Will PM you with a few more details if you can.
Thanks!
