I paseed my theory :D :D I'm so chuffed :) So now I need to decide which test i'm doing, where I'm doing it and what bike i'm going to get !!!! wooo hooooooooooooooooo :D

Great stuff go for it. I would say with your age and what I know of insurance costs the 125 route might be best, certainly the cheapest.

What bike have you got or what are you thinking of getting
I have a 125 at the moment and I don't know which bike to get. I ride 2 hours every day to work and back so although I want a sports bike I need to be sensible with my decision really as i'll be riding through the winter.
Well as they all say, if you do do your DAS then a good strater big bikes are the Bandit, Hornet, CBF600, ER-6, SV650, as they are all good bikes that even riders that have been ridding for years can still get on and throttle them and have fun, so a new big bike rider will find them fun and will not out ride them. Plus they are also all good all rounders for day to day, touring, and winter ridding.
I have an SV650, I can say its a good all rounder, low insurance but you still have plenty to play with. 0 to 60 3secs, 0 to 100 5secs, Top speed 140mph. Nice sensilbe riding. But all the bikes igbell suggested are perfect, just depends on your own taste.

As you know I have only had a licence for 6 months and my first bike is a bandit...I can't comment on any of the others as I have only ever ridden the bandit and an r6 (my next bike!) but choose one that you're comfortable on cos you do quite a bit of riding everyday.
Whatever you choose you will hopefully love and will be right for you.

Just been looking at bikes and I quite like the look of the SV650 sport. May have to go and have a nosy up at GW soon.
Congrats Hannah, you are obviously not just a lady of great talent (passing your theory) but of astounding taste & judgement in choice of an SV650S.

All bikes mentioned are great for the daily commute. You will find that the SV still has quite a sporty riding position so may hurt your wrists and may not be the most comfortable for longer journeys. Plenty of fun though!
Try a CBR 600f or the fs, cracking bikes :) My first bike was a zx6r J1 model (year 2000) and was quite a big sports bike and ideal for commuting

Hazel might need a gentle touch as I believe she has a family member who had a nasty bike accident in the past. :(
Now Tina is different kettle of fish! Even my level of subtlety would work!! LOL! ;D
hmm I had heard about the accident, but were all safe riders (apart from Andrew who apprently likes to crash and burn his vehicles) and so is Dabz i'm suer she would love it on the back of a bike.
as for Tina..Go tina Go!!!!!!!!!!! Do the test :)

Hannah, you'll be doing the training and test on one of our GS500's, and we will have one for sale by then. Contrary to popular belief, they get very well looked after, serviced regularly, and get quite a bit of money spent on them every year. The one we will be selling is a 2003 '53' reg GS500K3. I think it's got about 23000 miles, but I'll have to let you know on that. They are extremely cheap to insure, very reliable, and cheap to fix. Ideal as a daily commuter bike. HMB You got a test date yet for Module 1. Aslo if your looking for a New Bike 59 try the Suzuki Gladius looks a nice bike. Maybe not yet if riding through the winter months.

Congratulations on passing!
I must agree with peoples input. The SV650 is a great bike, I worked on one and it was a breeze, so maintenance costs will be low. It did good MPG, handled really well and was light too!
I rode it for 100 odd miles and had a real hoot on it, I thought I would not like it as I ride a Gixxer but no it was great fun and well sporty. Looks good too with the full fairing.
Regarding insurance, just spend a few hours using insurance search engines and you will be able to get a sensible quote...I pay 220 p.a fully comp using this method, not the 500 some crooks quoted me! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
