Hello hurtank, As long as you are on two wheels that’s fine

Nothing wrong with a 50cc bike. It's transport and better than getting taxis or walking.
I started out on a 50 in the good old days when you thought your fizzie or AP50 would do about 75mph (well thats what you told your mates)

i still do kevin oh god am i showing my age ( the ap was faster )
but ive heard stories of over 80 but i kinda look at the guy and think what a load of bull,
realisticly 55 for a good fs1e 60 for a good ap50 anymore is just nonsense, dont forget i own both

I had the AP50. The inside of the head was polished just as much as the outside of the bike. I also had a metalflake paintjob done on it!
Imagine my weight on it though (I've always been rather large), I kept blowing the bottom end.
I then had a rather more boring Honda SS50.
Memories.

oh no not a ss50 the early model had 2.6 bhp and did 35ish tops with a 4 speed box the later ones with 5 speed could almost keep up with a fs1e.
nowadays of couse you can chuck a 140cc lump from a pit bike straight in and make it go like the clappers

SS50. I remember breaking one side of the footrest off and still needed to ride it whilst I waited for the part to be deliveried so I removed the other footrest and bolted a piece of 2 by 2 wood to the frame.
If Morgan cars could get away with a wooden chassis then I could get away with a wooden footrest.

Never had such a small bike meself started on a C70..........Hmmmm 3 speed semi auto box top speed 40, perhaps i should keep quiet-

Present bike VFR750.

You have to start somewhere and speaking with more experienced riders is a great way to get tips and learn. See you at the Sally soon I hope.

This site is not a place for bike snobs...so don't worry boss.

Confession!... I started on a C90 moped, then 100,then AR125,RD250LC...Loved the AR and RD, guess you always remember your first love(s) the keenest! ;D

I had a Honda SS50 but after riding a mates FS1-E Yamaha thought it was gutless! Ahh, happy moments in my youth! :) Life seemed simpler then and all we'd dream about was owning the"king" of bikes the Yamaha RD250s' and Suzuki GT250s' which were the maximum "L plate" size you could ride at the time! ;)
