Hi all,
Thought is let you know that there has been an accident on Thamesdown Drive, Swindon today at about 4pm. It looks pretty serious so hope the rider(s) are ok. I didn't get too close to see the bike or plate so cannot tell you anymore to help identify the rider so hope all WB'ers are safe and sound.

Hello everyone! thankyou for your supportive messages, just to let you know i am ok and recovering well, i am out of hospital. I had a black vauxhall pull out on me and hit me causing me and my black zxr to smash into the traffic light post on thamesdown drive just outside asda, i sufferd a broked dislocated ankle, dislocated and broken both knees, ligament damage and broken arm. i have had plates and bolts etc fitted and im making a great recovery, i should be able to walk again in a few weeks time..... its been a bit of a nightmare but now im out of hospital i feel comfortable again/

I count myself extremely lucky. no head, back, neck, or internal injurys. I have a few photos of the scene and the bike if anyone is interested.

I nearly lost my foot at the scene as it lost all blood supply and was hanging round the wrong way so im waiting on the photos of that from the police.

VERY VERY LLUCKY!!! thankyou again for all your messages.

Matt

Glad to hear your on the mend bud. Would be interested to see those pics. I live just around the corner from there and am curious to know what happened. Did he go through a red light to pull out on you? I thought all the junctions were traffic light controlled. Or did he pull accross from the other side when they were green?

Happy to hear you are on the mend, especially as it sounds it could have been much worse.

Hey thanks everyone!
in reply to Squashed Flies post: I live just round the corner aswel in oakhurst, basically the driver pulled out from lane 1 into lane 2 as i was overtaking with no indication and so suddenly there was nothing i could have done, just side swiped me straight into the post.

Im up and about today on my zimmer so hopefully if i can get the money sorted be back on a bike by the summer. when do the meets start or do you guys meet all year round?

That's it! Straight back on a bike! :) We'll ignore the fact it's not moving! lol

Meets are all year round, although some of us (ahem, like me, ahem) stick to 4 wheels while it's icy and cold... ::)

Look forward to seeing you at some of them soon!

Squashed Flie that would be awsome thankyou! yeah id be well up for that! Im thinking (and hoping) i should be able to walk with a stick by the end of this month!

Have you been out on your ZX6 much or is it tucked away til summer?

Thanks Gladilicious! i think 4 wheels is a sensible idea for now!! ;)

Now that's proper dedication! Nuff respek!

Any good x-rays? This is one of my mates who got knocked off her Transalp late last year by some dim witted old biddie in a Micra:

I've been out on it loads. Use it for work when the weathers dry :)

Many of us are all weather riders, on & off road, although no one worries if you come along in a car, just come along.

That pic of you sat on the bike takes me back. I was walking wounded and kept sitting on bikes and seeing if I could pull in the clutch! :D

You have a tough road ahead but you will always have support on here! ;)

ouch! those xrays look like it would have been painful! im going to try and get some on disc soon for the insurance company so il whack a few on soon.

a friend of my brothers came of his ZX10 in the summer he did 5 verts in his back and broke his hip. he was restricted to 33bhp because of his A2 test, he managed to de restrict it pretty much straightaway he had only passed his test 2 weeks before...... he hit the round about at 90mph apparantly! his first EVER bike. I dont really think he listend to anyone telling him how poweful that bike was. hes all good now and lucky to walk out of that, hes on about getting the gsxr400 i think thats a better option! ;D

Nooj

I burst my T12 vertibrae a month after buying my first bike by failing to get round a corner at a lowly 50mph, that was only an '84 XJ600, you can do yourself serious damage on a mini moto if you try hard enough :P

Derestricted ZX10 2 weeks in?! :o I'll be reminding Scotty of this story when he goes on about me and my restricted bike now!! :)

OUCH! :o
Glad you're ok and still with us with all your bits still attached!
Thamesdown Drive is like a race track at times, I'm down the other end from SQ, in Redhouse so when you're riding again, like SQ said give us a shout.

Are you talking about young Joe from the parts dept at GW? He'd ridden his ZX-10R with the restriction fitted since he'd had the thing (bought it just after passing his test I believe) and removed it when the restriction period ended on his licence - he didn't shortcut it like you suggest, he played by the rules but got bitten by it afterwards, a combination of a young guy getting a little carried away and an awful lot more power than he was used to - fortunately he's made a very good recovery, one of the advantages of being young...

Yes Gladelicious, swap your ECU over and enjoy the thing like it was intended, an de-restricted Gladeoli won't quite be the handful that Joe's 10 was... ;)

Wowzers, that's a pretty bashed up bike, and an impressive list of injuries too! Glad to hear you are already on the mend though :)

Hope we will see you out and about at a few meets soon - don't worry about not being on 2 wheels, although there are a few of us who lack the brain cells to put the bike away in winter ( ;) ), 4 wheels are just as accepted.

ahhhh rite ok Scotty my bad, i was going on hear say with that. just on what my bro tells me. I knew it was Joe and when i went in to see him i remember him showing me and my mates his Cal Crutchlow monster helmet, it was pretty wrecked. they keep it in george whites now for people to have a gander at.
but yeah he made a good recovery!
