Found a screw on my tyre!! :( not happy... there still a few miles life left on it...
the screw went in sideways and when I took it off there's no air coming out, but left a big hole on the tyre thread, so Im not risking it for the sake of 100 odd quid....

I've been using BT014s on the front and BT021s on the rear, which work really well, but I've heard about this new BT023?

anyone has any experience? are they any good?

From what I've heard they have made it even harder in middle and softer on the sides?

and....long shot, but any views if it would work well with a BT014 front?

Cheers!

014 is single compound, whereas 021 and 023 are dual, i personally don't rate the 021's, tried 'em and the wear is awful especially on the front. However the 014 is a good trye with even wear. Mate at work has 023's on his bike and he rates them way above the 021, wear seems better, and less uneven. As for mixing them, dunno really, but i guess the profile would be similar, so should be ok.

If there is a few miles left, is it worth getting an inner tube put in?? Will save you lobbing out a good tyre.

Ron Haslam puts them on his track bikes at Silverstone (Thats a pretty good endorsement for a sports touring tyre)

Lob some of that messy glue stuff in it that Nooj sells then, worst that can happen is you get a slow, best is you save your money.

You can get them that size.... have used on on the rear of the GS before now with no problems. Went to london and back a few times on the motorway.

I have used 021's and 023's and they are both great

cool, good that you've had experience of both...

what bike do you ride?

and is the 023 really worth it? or not a massive difference from the 021?

the only problem i have is that i know the 021 works well with my front 014... but dont know how the 023 will

I ride a Honda VFR800 so the sort of bike these tyres we made for.
I am happy with either to be honest, I thought the 021's were beeing fadded out by the 023's

mmm..... so it's good, but not a massive difference..
decisions, decisions...

might stick with the 021 and change for a 023 next year..
Ive never had any probs with the 021, so better stick to what I know, wouldnt want to spend money on the 023 and then find out it doesnt work with the 014 on the front, when I've just put that one 500 miles ago...

thanks for the replies though guys.. very helpfull.

would be interesting to hear more, from the users who changed from 021s to 023s, when you have done a few fair miles

i have a 023 on rear of my 750.............reliable predictable grip levels, and wears evenly. the dual compound is great as i do a fair amount of upright miles ......yet it still sticks when i do throw it about. will be replacing with another 023 soon

Puncturesafe tyre sealant, rated up to 150mph, forms a clot as strong as a 'professional' repair, £20 a bike.

I'm in Newbury (Enborne Road), come up and see me some time.

The Missus used to get 12,000 miles out her 020's on her Fazer, then changed to the 021 and it dropped to 4000. She's moved on to Avon Storms now and so far has done somenthing stupid like over 24,000 miles on it!! Unbelievable!
